The
A Step Ahead Learning Center has served youth and
adults in the San Gabriel Valley since September 1987. It started
when Dr. Edgar, a clinical psychologist, and a group of community
leaders became dissatisfied with the reported high dropout rates of
children living in this area. They began research to find the most
effective way to help children increase their achievement in school.
Preschools, after school curriculum, parent training and summer camps
have been provided to many families since that date. Our
mission is to help youth and adults identify their natural talents
so that they may use them in a positive way to become productive citizens. We serve our community with arts, sports and mentoring programs. Our HotShots sports programs are for children 18mo. – 12 years old. The sports leagues include, Indoor Soccer, Flag Football, Baseball and Basketball. We also run a Karate/Self Defense program for youth and adults ages 6 & up, and a Fitness & Fun Camp during the summer. Click here for the flyer or register now. The A Step Ahead Arts program (ASAAP) provides music/television production, Fall/Summer creative arts programs in the Pasadena Unified school district and television-acting workshops for youth & young adults ages 6 – 21 years old. Our Young Voices
mentoring program connects young men and women with mentors in their
fields of interest. The Young Voices program has won several awards
including: The LA County Anson Ford award for excellence in diversity
and the National Communicator Award for education and arts. We are
also a resource of education, behavior modification techniques, and
employment for our families and community. |
